I installed Mavericks last week. I need to conduct a mail merge in Word 2008 for Mac. When trying to locate the Excel file with the data, you get the message 'This file needs to be opened by the Excel Workbook Text converter, which may pose a security risk if the file you are opening is a malicious file. Choose OK to open this file only if you a re sure it is from a trusted source' If you click OK, they you get 'The converter necessary to open this file cannot be found.' I was able to mail merge before installing Mavericks, so Mavericks is the problem. This must be fixed now.
